Anita O'Day – Live in Tokyo '63
Fantastic Vintage concert audio from Dec 31, 1963 backed by a full Orchestra. Made for Live Japanese Television. This is first time this concert has been available commercially. There is a dvd of the concert in production. It will be released mid - 2008.
Ian McCrudden's debut release on Kayo's new Songwriter series. A collection of smoke house tunes with a western yet not quite contry-husk - a seamless mix of introspective lyrics and powerful guitar-driven melodies. The songs are confessional, the arrangements are sparse and the voice is rough and unforgettable. Experience the world through the eyes and songs of this unique artist and prepare to be transformed. Take a listen. On the Start Over web-page
Anita's very last & triumphant return to the recoriding studio with legendary drummer Eddie Locke (Roy Eldridge and Coleman Hawkins) Joe Wilder's Trumpet and Flugal Horn Perfection. Chip Jackson the best bassist on the scene. New comers Lafayette Harris' perfection on Piano. (Remember Anita standard in piano is quite high, and his playing thrilled her.) Tommy Morimoto plays saxonphone and has a big future ahead of him. This is a bittersweet & joyous album that confronts & celebrates the master musician in the autumn of her life
This 1975 recording is finally available on CD as a U.S. release - It is the inaugural release on Kayo Stereophonic .Kayo named after Anita's first dog! This release has been repackaged and resequenced from the original. This recording is really beautiful! A must have. Read the original liner notes on the My Ship page
